American Eagle Outfitters: 2016 People's Choice *WINNER*
American Eagle Outfitters has always been a socially conscientious brand, using their email program as a form of public outreach. This year in particular marked the beginning of a very special program for AEO’s sister brand, Aerie. The #aerieREAL campaign shed light on a very important, but less discussed topic, especially amongst the Aerie customer demographic - self-worth and healthy body image. Aerie committed to only using healthy sized models, but also made a promise to their customers that no marketing images would be retouched. AEO also partnered with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), to spread the word about eating disorders and encourage AEO customers to participate in NEDA Walks. The campaign successfully accomplished bringing copious attention to a serious issue, in a fresh and fun way.
